Day 5 - Monday - Tamiya Tour

First thing this morning we headed to the Tamiya factory (actually 3 factories as it turned out). The main factory is where we started.

We saw the moulding and machining tools, RD, CAD/CAM facilities, museum (this was awesome!), real F1 cars including Hakkinen's Lotus, Depalier's 6 wheel Tyrell and Mansell's black Lotus.

There were Tamiya models and pictures which ever way you looked, heaven some might say?

The 16 international drivers all received a TA04S as a gift from Tamiya and we had the chance to get our car shells signed by "the man" himself Mr Tamiya.

We then visited the packaging factory where all the kits and spares are boxed and packaged up and sent all around the world. Some of the machines they had here were unbelievable, including a robot that played tunes when it was performing certain actions!

Lunch was another fantastic spread of marvellous Japanese delights and then after a quick squiz at the RC body shell forming factory we were off to the Tamiya test track.

There was an on road and off road track here. The off road was small but perfect for the TB01 rally car the Plucka ran and everybody in site had a go of, and thrashed! The on road track is awesome, very smooth and grippy with multiple possible layouts.

A quite amazing day.
